Mapping the Open Pollinated

Brown Bag Seed Sharing & Community Mapping

SeedBroadcast and HawkMoth Farm + Agroecology Center partnered up at the Compartiendo Semillas, Sembrando el Futuro, Seed Exchange in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to co-generate a community SEED map and hand out Brown Bags with local open pollinated seeds. During this community exchange local seed savers map their gardening locations on an aerial map of the region and share thoughts about the challenges local farmers and gardeners face in the form of proprietary seed pollution and the loss of heritage open-pollinated plants and food.

This project also traveled to Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier, VT as an installation of project materials and seed sharing action for the VCFA 2011 Summer Residency.

Many thanks to WWOOF intern, Nora Knutson, for helping with this Project AND to all the folks who showed up to share and support local seeds!
